Perhaps it had something to do with the cold and dreary weather when I arrived, or perhaps the fact that some of the other cities I had visited on this (and previous trips) has been so festive and fun, but I was a little underwhelmed with Bologna. I'm sure it's a very pretty city when the weather is fine, with its iconic arched passages and the elegant Due Torre - The Twin Towers. But the grey and rainy skies made for poor exploring conditions and were getting me glum, so I decided to console myself with food and lots of it.
Lucky then, that Bologna is considered one of the foodie capitals of Italy. I roamed around the food shops such as famed Tortellini makers Paolo Atti & Figli and Italian Food Haven Eataly, stuffed myself with gelato and pizza (and then more gelato and more pizza) and then capped it off on my final morning with the grandest breakfast in bed that I've ever had - probably could have fed a family on the spread but I did my best to do it justice!
So tell me, what's your fave pizza? (Sausage and Mushroom for me, per favore!)
