Sheer busyness (or is it laziness?) meant that it was more than six months into London life and I had yet to venture up the London Eye. Fear heights aside (I'm all jelly legs and rapidly beating heart when it comes to anything high - even escalators!) it was definitely something on my London bucket list and thanks to the lovely Esther coming to town, I finally gathered my nerves and did it!
Whilst it was a chilly and grey sort of day, the skies held and we had a clear 360 view of London around us. The views were most definitely worth the effort (and the jelly legs) - when you are stuck in the tube or dwarfed by skyscrapers and buildings much of the day, you forget how expansive and beautiful the city really is. We could see all over the city of London, all the major landmarks including the Tower of London, The Shard and The Gherkin, even as far as where I'm living in Canary Wharf!
Another thing ticked off the bucket list!
